Landing Net and Handle
To ensure safe landing of your first fish you will need a landing net. All day ticket and commercial lakes insist upon anglers using a landing net, so it’s a very important bit of kit to buy when starting out.
A 40cm net with a fine mesh and a separate carbon fibre handle measuring up to 3m in length is ideal for most situations. The Daiwa NZon landing net handle is a quality handle, both lightweight and strong and priced at around £40 – £50. Pair this with a Daiwa Tournament Pellet Mesh net priced around £15.
Keep Nets
Not essential and mostly used for fishing matches, keepnets are not permitted on many lakes but where allowed, they are useful for keeping your days catch ready for the all-important catch shot at the end of your session or to weigh your biggest fish of the day.
Available in 2.5m or 3m versions and with options suitable for silverfish only such as roach, perch and ide or for holding carp. The Daiwa Matchman commercial net pack comes with two keepnets, a landing net and net bag and is priced at around £80.
